Endorsed Breedlove Guitar artists, Jay Kirkland and Barbara Gorin are the Breedloves Acoustic Dynamic Duo, whose romantic, original acoustic music and innovative covers shine with their musical chemistry and passion for all things guitar.  

 
They met in 2010 and had an immediate musical chemistry between them.  As well as being endorsed by the Breedlove Guitar Company, they are also endorsed by Stage Ninja, the innovative company who invented the retractable cords.  They perform as a duo, trio, or full band and are very fortunate to have many talented musician friends, each one bringing something different with their own musical style to help create The Breedloves unique sound. 

 They enjoy remixing covers and adding different instruments to their show, whether it is ukulele, saxophone, keyboards, or flute, among other fine instruments.   The Breedloves perform mostly original music, but also innovative covers, from Sly and the Family Stone to Johnny Cash.
 

Their romantic original acoustic music can create a nice ambiance for all events, wine tastings, weddings, private parties, restaurants, slide shows, art shows, or any place you wish to create a wonderful feeling through their music, as their diverse style pleases all ages.  Together, they are known to captivate the audience, whether they are 5 or 95 years old.  Their original instrumentals have a way of taking you away to a beautiful place, whether it’s to the beach, with their song, “The Cruz,” or to the beautiful town of “Sausalito,” in Northern California, while listing to this dynamic duo! “Their music can even make you feel like you are on vacation." 

 
Jay Kirkland grew up and currently lives in Richmond, California, and Barbara Anne Gorin is originally from Silver Spring Maryland and they are a couple.

A little about Jay and Barbara:

Jay has been playing guitar since he was a child, and is an avid song writer, and able to play all styles of music, from jazz to blues, to metal to fusion, it doesn't matter, just give Jay a good rhythm, and he can compose and play guitar and ukulele to anything! Jay picked up a ukulele in September of 2017 and has mastered playing this awesome instrument! 

Here is a little example of Jay performing a remix of “All Along the Watch Tower”on ukulele.  He plays the ukulele with passion and drive and it would make Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix proud! 

Barbara has been strumming the guitar since she was young, and has a particular love for playing the 12 string.

The Breedloves' original music is perfect for TV, commercials, video games, movies, as they have a large catalog of original instrumental music, with a wide range of styles.  

Both Jay and Barbara volunteer involved for a wonderful National nonprofit children's music charity, Guitars Not Guns, particularly the Contra Costa County, California Chapter. Barbara is the President - Director of the Contra Costa County Chapter, and sits on the National Office  Executive Board as well.  Jay is the VP of Special Projects for the local Contra Costa County Chapter of Guitars Not Guns.  This program provides free guitars and free guitar lessons to at risk youth and foster kids in an 8-week program. Guitars Not Guns is not anti gun, but anti gun violence, especially when it comes to kids. Building encouragement and teaching an alternative with the gift of music to deserving kids is what it is all about. 

 
Jay is a lead instructor in West Contra Costa County, and sees the joy he can bring to kids through the gift of music. He learned early on how music saved him from destructive behaviors, and believes strongly in what Guitars Not Guns stands for.  Jay was interviewed by Richmond Confidential for his volunteer work with the program.  Here is a video of the  interview:

Jay uses Ibanez Guitars, Dunlop picks and D'Addario strings.  He also performs with an acoustic Breedlove Atlas Series Studio six string, a Breedlove, Mitchell  and Kala ukuleles.  Jay is an endorsed artist with the Breedloves Guitar Company and Stage Ninja Gear, the innovative company that invented the awesome retractable cord, along with other amazing products.  Jay recently became endorsed with Kala Brand Music for his unique and amazing style of ukulele plalying! 
 

Barbara Anne Gorin instantly fell in love with Breedlove Guitars in 2009, where she purchased her first Studio Atlas six string.

The following year, she found her true love, an acoustic electric Atlas Series C-250/SME 12 string model. It was her dream guitar and when she strums and arpeggiate the strings, she fills the room with a beautiful melody of the 12 strings all in sync for a beautiful sound.

Barbara started volunteering with Guitars Not Guns, in September 2005.  She instantly developed a passion to want to help at risk youth. Since 2006, Barbara has raised tens of thousands of dollars along with other amazing volunteers, and has successfully graduated over 600 kids who were given free guitar lessons and a guitar!

In 2009, Barbara was honored with the Threads of Hope award by Diablo Magazine, a San Francisco Bay Area magazine, for her relentless volunteer work with Guitars Not Guns, and driving passion to help bring music to deserving childrens’ lives.  In 2012, Barbara was honored with the People’s Choice Award from the Digital Literary Arts, Inc.

Barbara is also a lead guitar instructor for Guitars Not Guns at several different locations in the East Bay of San Francisco, which include San Pablo, Richmond, Martinez, Pleasant Hill, Concord, Pittsburg, and Antioch, and organizes Fundraisers along with Jay Kirkland, and recruits high-profile musical artist support and support from the music industry and local music community.

On June 30, 2017, Barbara retired from her job of almost 29 years working for Weinberg, Roger and Rosenfeld, a prestigious Union side labor law firm as an Arbitration Administrator.  She began working in 1988 as a clerk typist and quickly moved up to supervising the arbitration practice of the firm.  With more time on her hands, she is excited to continue her musical journey, and able to focus on music! 

Barbara enjoys her volunteer work with Guitars Not Guns, and performing music, singing, and co-composing original songs with Jay.  Her Breedlove 12 string guitar makes it easy! 

Both Barbara and Jay are honored and excited to have been chosen three separate occasiosn to perform at the USA's largest music trade sjhow, "The NAMM Show," in  2018, 2019 and 2023.
